Wafer Paper Dendrobium Orchid Cake

It is just recently that I started making wafer paper flowers.  Needless to say I enjoy making them and find it quite addictive so will take every opportunity to do them on cakes.  But I have been making so many peonies and roses until I think people who has been following my work thinks I only know how to do only these 2 types of flowers.  So when this bride wanted something different I was just too happy to oblige.  She wanted spider chrysanthemums, white orchids, yellow dancing ladies and eucalyptus....in mixture of real and wafer paper flowers on her cake.  After a few emails we decided on white orchids as the paper ones and the rest real.

Ta-tah!  The whole ensemble looks good huh?  The color combination is also very pleasing to the eye.

This is also the first cake with white chocolate ganache and white chocolate frosting....so sinful and decadent but i bet so so yummy.

Peony Glitter Cake

This cake was for a couple who came back from UK.  The design looks normal on the outside...its the cake inside that is interesting.  Teal and peach color butter cake.

It was the first time I use edible glitter. It used to be more glittery but I guess after the controversy of it being non-edible they made it really edible this time but it came without that shine.  You win some you lose some.

Blush Pink Peony Wedding Cake

When it comes to color I am very inconsistent in my liking.  Today I can tell you its black black black.  Tomorrow I can totally throw you off balance when I say lilac!!!  Hehe....I am an emotional person and this emotion spreads to my color chart as well.

But then...after finishing this cake I love it.  And after more than 2 months I am still in love with it.  In fact it has become one of my personal favorite.  Don't get me wrong...I have not crossed over to be all girlie and pretending to be young.  But I believe it is the subtleness of three shade of pinks together that is affecting my judgement.  It is calming yet flirtatious. I am weird?  But there...at least it is my favorite for the time being.

Wafer Paper Anemone Cake

My latest craze is making wafer paper flower and I am proud to say that I have managed to find a way to vein and shape the petals like in sugar paste and even wire them.  Yay!!

These anemones are not the usual black and white but midnight blue and white.

Valentino Garavani Shoe cake

The cake is in the shape of the shoe box complete with 'tissue paper' & cover and white sugar peony.

Chic-Rustic Chalkboard Anniversary cake

I have always wanted to make a rustic kind of cake and more so with chalkboard but unfortunately all customers cannot be convinced into it.  So when my auntie wanted to celebrate her 40th wedding anniversary I grabbed this opportunity to make her one.  The design was already in my head...rustically applied icing top tier and a  blackboard bottom tier which I can 'write' and life size sugar peonies against lots of different kinds of green herbs ....all on a tree trunk cake stand.

Then I received an email from my auntie that my uncle would love to have a figurine of himself in uniform and her with long flowing hair with a tiara and wearing lots of jewellery.  Hmmm...a total opposite of rustic.  B..b..but...I do not want to let go of my ideas.  Hahaha...the little rebel in me said "why not!".....in cake there is no right and no wrong. I know, I know I am stabbing myself somewhere.  It is just not me, right?  But like I said it's the 'the little rebel in me'.  Chic and rustic can go hand in hand...my way!!!!!!!!!

The front chalkboard was free hand written ~

"17 May 1975
Love you then
Love you still
Always have, Always will
Patsy & Noel"

Seashell Wedding Cake

It was a garden party by the sea for a young couple's third reception.  First one was in Melbourne, their home base and second in Singapore, at the groom's parents' and this one, the mother of the bride's hometown.

Another Peony Wedding Cake

For a very appreciative couple....a simple Peony cake.

And I received this the very night of the reception!!!  No money can buy this happiness.  Yeehar!!!

Peony Wedding Cake

Another Peony Wedding Cake.  Peony seems to be the popular choice amongst bride.  This time the couple is more specific...they prefer the 'cabbage' type.  Theme color peach and cream.
