Cheongsam Cake

After the Kebaya Cake...a lady called up from Australia to ask if I can make a cheongsam cake for her sister who will be 70.  After a few emails we decided on a satin cheongsam with traditional Chinese embroidery and Chinese buttons.  The birthday girl loves to wear pearl necklaces as well.....so it becomes part of the cake.  I added in a sugar paste birthday card which has an old photo of her whole family in black and white...and to make it even more Chinese I put in a sugar peony.

The completed set...cheongsam/qipao, pearls, card, peony

A strand of pearls which was handrolled, airbrushed
and further dusted with pearl dust

The satin finishing of the dress...pink and red color of the
embroidered flowers gives the cheongsam
a very traditional Chinese feel
