Gold Ingot or CNY Cake

This was a popular cake for Chinese New Year and 'pai thnee kong'.  The cake was carved to shape like an ingot, covered with fondant, sprayed with edible gold then further dusted with gold lustre to give it that old antique look.

I made temporary molds for the dragon and phoenix.  There were hardly any details after molding which means all the scales and indentations were made using tools for sugar craft.  Not difficult but time consuming.
